- 1. Welll.. I was gone most of the movie so I don't know a whole lot. But from reading the internet and other people's blogs.. I think I have a few ideas. I suppose his "best moments" would obviously be when the german princes stood up to the king. kind of a big deal.. Um also getting married was a highlight. Marraige is always good. And it also proved that a Protestant priest could be marrieed unlike the Catholics. He believed the Catholics were wrong on selling indulges and wanted that to stop. He put a 95 thesis on the doors of a catholic church, this caused him to go into hiding, but it was a very important step. While he was in hiding he also translated the Bible into German, he was the first to do that!
- 2. I would say his weaknesses would for sure be his struggle with the peace of God. He had so many doubts about God. He wasn't faithful to the word which caused him to go crazy a little bit. He was said to have dealt with Satan and talked to him.. he got so low in his faith and so high in his doubts that he went almost mad and had battles with Satan. MAJOR downfall. But on the UP side:) He was a verrryyy strong man. He stood up for his faith and what he believed was right. He didn't just watch from the sidelines like a lot of other people did. He took it to heart. And he made a difference. I mean just look at the difference he's made in our churches today. craazy. Alsoo, he translated the whole Bible into a language (the first time to be translated into a language other than Latin) this was a large accomplishment I would say. And he was very smart. Well like I said before, I watched like 20 minutes of the movie.. So I don't know how great it was. But from what I saw it was hard to keep up with. I think it portrayed him well, like the character was very believable.. But I couldn't watch it for more than like 5 minutes without getting confused. But it was good I guess.
- 3. (http://www.greatsite.com/timeline-english-bible-history/martin-luther.html) "English Bible History"
- Martin Luther was a Christian theologian and Augistanian monk who radically changed the Protestant Church and changed the lives of every Christian of the day. The website says that Luther had a struggle with God and who God was. His relationship with Him did not come easy. It says he had a hard time finding peace with God. Luther put a "95 Thesis" on the doors of the Roman Catholic church, people say this was the beginning of the Protestant church. Luther was the first person to translate the entire Bible into the German language. Martin Luther died of natural causes..
- (sorry this blog kinda sucked.. I tried! I hope you had a great time at forest glen) :) p.s. I love OU ;)

CHAPTER 8 DON'T WASTE YOUR LIFE
This chapter was strait up convicting. I'm gonna try to summarize it a little and put some key points but I think it is different for everyone. So if you're reading this, you should go read it. Anyways. There was a line in the book and it says "You don't waste your life by where you work, but how and why." This sentence basically covers the chapter. It's not the job you have or where you're at in it or how high in it you are, it's your motivation for doing it and the reasons behind it. And HOW you work at it. Like Mr. Mendenhall mentioned in class, school is my work right now. And it's a great job, I go to an amazing school and have teachers who care about me and want what's best. There are thousands of kids who don't get that opportunity. Yet, I find something to complain about every single day. Colossians 3:23 says "Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than men." That verse is so commonly used but so uncommonly practiced. The chapter talks about how you can glorify God when you have a secular job. The simple answer is to make him look great by what we are doing through our actions. People are looking at you whether we realize it or not, actions speak louder than words. And that is really important I think in the business setting. To branch off a little, it talks about how thankfulness is a great kind of worship. I think that this was the most convicting part of the whole chapter. I look at what I have, a family, a nice house, nice cars, boyfriend, friends, relatives, mac computers, phones, tv's, basically everything and more. And how many times do I honestly stop to thank God for it? Never. And if I do it's very half heartedly. I am SO blessed, and being thankful is a great way to glorify God and remind me of what all He has given me. The thankfulness talked about in the work is about thanking God for what we do. How often to we praise God for giving us legs to walk or eyes to see? Not very often, God has given us the ability to do so many things and so much work, that's why we should work so hard at what we do, because we have the opportunity to. There were six points in this chapter about how to glorify God in our secular work. It would be hard to summarize them all, soo yeah. But anyways, incconclusion,.. God's will in this age is to be the salt and light in our secular vocations. He calls us to be in the word so we can be doers of the word and we can spread it to all around us. God needs to be heard and seen. How will people see if we don't work hard and for the Lord?
The. End.
The. End.

SKID ROW
We watched a show called Secret Millionaire and the special was on Skid Row. It was a pretty touching video just to get a glimpse of all that was there and the people who are so hopeless. Yet they are still so happy. The guy who went was not a Christian so it kinda put a new perspective on the show in my opinion. He must just have a good heart but it was weird because it wasn't like he was going to spread God's love. Anyways, the video showed this shelter for teenagers and mothers and that was cool because it would be really really hard for a woman to have a baby and try to keep the child healthy with no money. So that lady had a really good program going to get woman back on their feet again and gives them some hope. Well I didn't get to finish the show but I guess he gave a good percent of his money to the organizations there which is really cool! He must just have a good heart and I hope God really touched his heart there. :)

DON'T WASTE YOUR LIFE 2
Again.. sorry about the last blog. ANywaysss. So yeah my money could be questionable, I'm not giving my personal money to the church which probably needs to change. I just don't know if someone on the outside looking in would know I was a Christian for sure. Which is sad. Well we also looked up some verses and the one it would be really hard to give up everything I had for the cause of Jesus. Like even though I don't have that much.. I don't know that's just really convicting. The verses were saying that it's hard to be a Christian and enjoy the wealth of the world. And if we're not willing to give up everything we have for God it is impossible to be saved. Give your money to the poor, give everything you can give. Luke 14:33!!
1. The television negatively affects are that people can lose communication, you can put in crap in your mind that you shouldn't have there.
2. Uhm my interenet and television use isn't very much.. but it's higher than my time with God. Which is really sad.. but true. Soooo I'm gonna need to get better at that!

DON'T WASTE YOUR LIFE 2
Chapters 6&7 questions. Okay so if someone saw what I did in my free time.. I honestly don't know if they would see I am a Christian. Also in the way I spend my money. They would see that I'm not wasting my money cause I don't spend it on stuff harmful to my body but I'm probably not doing the best job.

EVANGELIZE
Sorry about that last blog.. I didn't mean to post it and I have no idea how to delete it. But anyways.. yeah we watched a movie. haha it was really good! My favorite part was when the guy went to the gay pride thing and talked to all them and had a very understanding conversations with them. It was amazing to see that. I really liked that main guy. Well this movie opened my eyes to see what is out there and the belief systems out there. And the main point I got was THERE IS A STORY BEHIND EVERY PERSON. Like when you see that gay nun person.. your initial thought is "what is that..." but when you find out some things behind his story, and the reason he is the way he is, you start to feel compassion. Everybody deserves understanding. That really touched me. And back to the part about the gay pride guy, it was really cool to me to see him sincerely apologize to them. I think we take homosexuality as a joke, but homosexuals need Jesus too. They're people too. Probably really cool people at that. hah. But anyways yeah, that was just really touching to see. This movie also opened my eyes to see all the different belief systems out there. There are so many. And almost everyone interviewed had reasons behind what they believed. It hurt to see some of those people and think that their lost. But the hope isn't lost.. we have to pray for them and pray for those who are lost. PRAY. And EVANGELIZE. Well I don't really know what else to say. I really liked this movie and it was a really good reminder of what all is out there and what we should be doing to help. Ohh.. and relationship is KEY. When you build a relationship with a lost person, they are more willing to hear what you have to say. Build relationships. :)
EVANGELIZE
Soooo. We watched another movie in Bible these last few days. I very much enjoyed it. It was funny but had some really great points to it.

JESUS CAMP
We watched a movie in Bible class called Jesus Camp. At the first I thought all the people on it were crazy, all these kids were getting visions and speaking in tongues and all this stuff. But I realized these people were for real. I'm not gonna lie and say none of it touched me, because it did. Yes, they did some really weird stuff. But some of the children, just the fire they had for God was actually really amazing to see. And yes, I teared up while everyone else was laughing. haha:) But that's besides the point. I disagree when the girl said that there were "dead churches" and "alive churches" and if you weren't up with your hands raised yelling to God you weren't worshipping. I can see where she comes from, but you don't know a person's heart and there's many ways to worship God. The main, crazy lady I believe had it right on some things. I think the fact that she wanted to see children being radical about God is a pretty amazing thing to set out to do. Yes, I believe she took it too far. But the idea of it was good. Children are so willing to listen, to understand and to learn. Adults can be so stubborn, I believe children are easy to reach. I do not believe the whole Jesus Camp and the church behind it is wrong. But they do need to improve on certain things. Like one thing Mr. Mendenhall mentioned in class, how are the kids going to be able to back up their faith? It's fed to them through little goofy illustrations. In a way it's good because they can have a visual understanding of it, but if their faith is put to the test I believe they're gonna have trouble defending what they believe. I don't think that they were necessarily brainwashing the children, but I also don't think they were exactly giving them all the choice. I think the kids kinda just did what they were told. I don't know, I don't know the hearts of any of those people so it's hard to determine where they all come from and their intentions. So in conclusion, I do like the idea of raising up a generation that will make a difference for God. We all just need to be careful in the way we do that. I guess that's all I have to say :)

DON'T WASTE YOUR LIFE
1. pg. 55
It happens everywhere. You should make it to where you always boast in the cross and nothing besides that. Don't boast in earthly treasures, simply boast in the cross and the cross alone. And I would say almost everywhere, I should boast more in the cross because it's the only reason I'm here.
2. The old person you used to be died but now I live with Christ in newness of life. When you accept Jesus to be your personal Savior. Without Christ you are dead but are renewed in Christ.
3. No areas are sticking out to me that I'm truly living by faith, but I should be living by faith all the time. It's hard at first but it's the only reason we're here! I can't stress that enough. I need to be able to trust God when I ask him about things and make sure I listen.
